Agratas crosses key construction milestone at Sanand facility
Agratas has achieved a major milestone at its Sanand site in India with the completion of the steel frame, marking a significant step towards operational readiness and keeping the project on track for production in 2027.
The structure spans 700 metres in length, 150 metres in width, and rises to 34 metres at its highest point, covering a built-up area of 105,000 square metres. Over 24,000 tonnes of steel have been deployed, with more than 2,500 skilled workers contributing at peak construction. Notably, all steel and a majority of materials have been sourced within India, supporting domestic supply chains and strengthening local industrial capabilities.

The project is being delivered in collaboration with Tata Projects Limited, Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), and multiple partners, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and disciplined execution at every stage.
Once operational, the facility will manufacture advanced battery cells for electric vehicles and energy storage, supporting India’s clean energy transition and its Net Zero 2070 ambition. With an annual capacity of 20 GWh in its first phase, the Sanand facility will play a key role in strengthening India’s position in the global battery value chain.
As the project progresses, it will also create significant employment opportunities across production, operations, engineering, and technical roles. Agratas is investing in building a skilled local workforce, opening new opportunities for talent to be part of India’s growing battery manufacturing ecosystem.
