Agratas’ commitment to a greener future: harnessing the power of briquette + CNG
Building with purpose
In the vibrant corridors of Agratas’ forthcoming Sanand factory, the excitement was more than just about construction. The team stood at a crossroads where the decision about a boiler system would define not just operational strategy, but also Agratas’ enduring commitment to sustainability and responsible manufacturing.
Beyond a technical choice
Selecting the right boiler wasn’t a routine task—it became a foundational moment for the company. While an electric boiler promised simplicity and cost efficiency, the team knew that true leadership meant taking the bold road. The prospect of a briquette boiler brought both hopes and concerns: potential reliability and supply issues, increased capital expenditure, and operational demands. Yet, the sustainability benefits were undeniable, inviting the team to weigh short-term convenience against long-term impact.
A collaborative journey
Determined not to settle for the conventional path, Agratas embarked on a thorough, collaborative evaluation. Brainstorming sessions, technical reviews with renowned OEMs such as Thermax and Forbes Marshall, and deep dives with design and sustainability specialists shaped the proposal at every step. Key insights were gathered through site visits to leading companies—including Nestle, Biocon, Baxter, Lupin, and Emcure—that already operated similar systems successfully. Their real-world feedback addressed concerns and provided new perspectives, while continuous engagement with internal stakeholders ensured that every voice was heard and every doubt was explored.
Tom, a core team member, consistently pushed the group to challenge assumptions, ensuring the final decision would stand the test of rigorous scrutiny and future demands.
Choosing progress
After months of detailed research, robust debate, and transparent collaboration, the answer became clear: the Briquette + CNG boiler system was more than just viable—it was the right choice for Agratas, India. This decision will deliver annual operational savings of INR 100 crore (about USD 12 million) per cell/block, while significantly reducing the environmental footprint of the new factory. Backed by technical validation and stakeholder endorsement, the project sets a benchmark for responsible industrial growth.
Delivering together
With the choice made, Agratas teams moved swiftly into action. Engineers worked closely with suppliers to uphold uncompromising quality standards, and sustainability experts ensured that briquettes were ethically sourced. What began as a complex technical challenge became a showcase for innovation, teamwork, and Agratas’ unwavering commitment to clean energy.
Our journey forward
This is more than a story of a factory decision—it’s a testament to ownership, collaboration, and the courage to innovate for a greener tomorrow. Agratas’ experience at Sanand is a model for industry, proving that when people work together with purpose, sustainability and progress go hand in hand.
