If so, we want you to join our Test Operations team, where your skills will directly contribute to the development and validation of cutting-edge battery technology.

 

The Opportunity

As a Test Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the validation of products across various stages of the engineering cycle. You’ll be responsible for assembling, maintaining, and operating advanced test equipment – ensuring that each setup meets the strict standards required by our Test Engineers. Your work will be vital in ensuring product reliability, traceability, and operational safety.

You'll also take ownership of a small, well-equipped workshop used for maintaining fixtures and sensors – and contribute to the continuous improvement of test methodologies and processes.

Additionally, you'll support the commissioning of a new testing facility, helping define equipment, processes, and tools for the site, and supporting the development of junior team members as the team grows.

**This role will initially be based in our Coventry site but is likely to move to our Somerset gigafactory in the next 2 years, please apply if you are open to relocating to Somerset in the future**

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Set up and manually operate testing equipment such as battery cyclers, impedance testers, multimeters, and environmental chambers.

  • Assemble and wire battery test setups with precision, ensuring proper configuration and adherence to safety standards.

  • Perform visual inspections of battery cells for defects or damage prior to testing.

  • Conduct regular maintenance and calibration of testing equipment to ensure reliability.

  • Support teardown, cleaning, and proper storage of tools and test hardware.

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment.

  • Contribute to the development of testing processes, tools, and documentation to improve efficiency and traceability.

Job Context

What You’ll Bring

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2–3 years' experience in a technician or testing role.

  • Strong hands-on skills with electrical assemblies and test setups.

  • Basic understanding of electrical principles (voltage, current, resistance).

  • Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and technical schematics.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a technical environment.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of battery technology and testing.

  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality procedures.

  • Experience working with environmental chambers, test rigs, and data acquisition systems.

  • Clear communication skills – both written and verbal – for effective collaboration and documentation.
